In trying to clutch her sari to her bosom she was unable to offer the garland to the deity. To relieve her distress the Lord is said to have bent down to accept the garland and offered his blessings. Eventually, it was the effort of a devotee Kungili Kalaya Nayanar, who wrapped a rope tied to the lingam around his neck and set it right through his infinite power of his boundless devotion to the lord.
