Thiruvalanchuzhi His Holiness Lord Vellai Vinayagar Temple, Moolavar-
Arulmigu Kabartheeswarar (Sadaimudinadhar), Ambaal- Arulmigu Pragan Nayagi (Periyanayagi): Thiruvalanchuzhi is one of the five temples where Shiva appears with Umadevi on to his left. A separate shrine for Ashta Puja Kali is also here. The Devas and Asuras set about churning the ocean for wealth. They used the Manthara Mountain to churn and the Vasuki snake as the rope. Out of sheer fatigue, Vasuki spat out her venom Aalahalam, which threatened to destroy the entire world. Shiva swallowed the venom which turned him blue and he became Thiruneelakantar. Later, the Manthara Mountain began to melt. On realizing his folly of having started this mission without the blessings of Lord Vinayagar, Indiran offered the milk of knowledge obtained form churning the ocean, to lord Vinayagar who then stabilized the mountain. Thus was born Vellai Vaarana Pillaiyar. This temple removed the danger to Indiran, Shiva and Kali and is believed to bless the devotees with the fruits of knowledge.

Innambur
His Holiness Lord Nithyakalyani Udanurai Ezhuttarinadhar Temple: On endowing the poet sage Agathiyar with the rules of Tamil Grammar, he came to be known as Ezhuttarinadhar. Sudhanman governed the temple activities with much devotion and honesty. To dispel any suspicions of the king against Sudhanman’s governance, He took the form of Sudhanman and presented the king with all the accounts of the temple activities. To increase a student’s mental capacities, devotees offer prayers at this temple, which is also famous for the worship of Airavadham- the white elephant of the Devas.

Hyagrivar– Kumbakonam
Hyagrivar is considered to be the Guru of Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge. It is believed that two devils Madhu and Kaidavan snatched from Lord Brahma the secret of creation along with the 4 Vedas, turned Lord Brahma into a horse and hid him inside a cave. Lord Perumal took the avatar of that horse, threatened the two devils, fought with them and got back the secrets of creation as well as the 4 Vedas and restored them to Lord Brahma. In having restored the secret of creation and the 4 Vedas, and being the Guru of Goddess Saraswati, it is believed that anyone, who prays to Lord Hyagrivar would be bestowed with all knowledge and intelligence. In this shrine Lord Hanuman has his right foot on Lord Saneeswarar and appears with his right hand raised as if he is blessing the devotees, is a speciality here not to be found anywhere else.

Koothanoor-Sri Saraswathi Temple:
When Vishnu and Brahma went in the quest of the beginning and end of the Infinite, Brahma lied of having seen the Beginning. An enraged Shiva cursed Brahma which resulted in no temples being erected for the creator. And as a direct consequence, Brahma’s wife Saraswathi too had only a few temples constructed for her worship. This temple is one of them, which was built by the chief poet Ottakoothar of the Chozha Empire. This temple land gifted to Ottakoothar came to be recognized as Koothanoor. Several legendary poets including Ottakoothar, Kambar, Kalidasa and Kumaragurubarar sang the praise of Goddess Saraswathi in this temple and earned her blessings. Thus the blessings of Saraswathi offered at this temple are historic. On Vijayadasami day, the beginning of Aksharaabhyasam performed in front of the deity is a treat to the eyes.

Thiruvengadu- Arulmigu Brahma Vidyambigai Samedha Suvedharanyar Temple:
For having taught Brahma all the skills, Amman is fondly referred to as Brahma Vidyambigai the master of all the 64 skills. Worshipping her enables one to excel in the quest for knowledge.
